WebFeb 18, 2016 · It probably won't pop off with just tightening, so get it tight and smack the end of the 20mm bolt with a hammer. This shock is what will remove it. Might take a few tries. The rotor to crank fit is a machined taper that makes it very tight. Once it moves any at all, it will come right off. There is a woodruff key in there also.

Use it to turn the engine (definitely with the spark plugs out) pulling so that force is applied in a clock-wise direction (tightening the nut) until it is nearly turned too far to access it. WebOct 16, 2008 · Take a 3 ft length of 2x4, about 4 inches from the end, cut a half moon cutout the same diameter of the rotor. Then screw in the lag bolt leaving about 1/2 inch of the shank showing. Cut the head of the bolt off with a hack saw. The position of the screw should be 1/4 way around the cutout on the short end of the 2x4.
