The tone of the book is kindly and the instruction has a personal feel to it. At no time did I find Ohshima coming across as arrogant or unduly harsh. WebTsutomu Ohshima has spent over fifty years practicing and teaching kaate. He was one of Master Gichin Funakoshi's last direct pupils (1948-1953 at Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan).
